Former Deputy Director given Lifetime Achievement Award
11 November 2011
Founding Deputy Director of the Institute, Jonathan Shepard, has just been awarded a lifetime achievement by the GAA. He is retiring from his post as Director General of IFFO, the International Fishmeal and Fish Oil Organisation (IFFO), of which he was a founder.
Dr Shepherd received his PhD from the University of Stirling following initial training as a veterinarian. He has extensive management experience in industrial marketing and business development, and has run businesses connected with fish farming, pharmaceuticals and feed manufacturing.
The GOAL conference (Global Outlook for Aquaculture Leadership) organised by the Global Aquaculture Alliance aims to bring together sector leaders to strategise on how to increase sustainable seafood production around the world. Professor Dave Little was attending and commented "it is great to see that the Institute of Aquaculture has produced so many sector leaders".
