Entrepreneurial Research

Dr Sarath Kodithuwakku, a visiting academic from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka undertook three months entrepreneurship research with the RELU team during the summer months of 2006.  The research examined the concerns in farming enterprise decision-making and developed new knowledge around the opportunities for production of tilapia in rural areasIn order to understand and help overcome the challenges of diversifying from conventional agriculture, in-depth interviews were conducted with a range of farmers in Central Scotland exploring their attitudes towards diversification, how and why any diversification strategies were undertaken and factors that either encourage or prevent diversification.
